Economic value of hemp is very great, but presence therein of narcotic active substances and due to the latter being used by drug fields, distinctly decreased hemp production. In recent years the Institute of Plant Industry in collaboration with the All-Union Scientific Institute of Best Crops based on the methodics developed by them (aimed at the decrease of narcotic active substances content) a number of valuable varieties were received in crosses. The varieties were with rather insignificant content of the above substances, the VIR world collection having been used.
