Selected potential stressors which affect the regional forest ecosystem (Bystrinka river watershed) in Slovakia

Results summarize a 10 year observation of the distribution of the water value of snow (VHS), SO4, NO3 in the Bystrinka catchment, which belongs to mountainous massif of the Low Tatras, Slovakia. The attention is paid to the distribution of ions with regard to climatic conditions and altitudinal zonation of the catchment. Local sources of pollution contribute to a certain extent to the amount and accumulation of SO4, NO3, wet deposition plays a significant role. The distribution of anions in separate zones is connected with supplies of the water in snow. The content of SO4 and NO3 in snow cover during winter period is determined and mathematical modelling is used.
