Study on ectoparasites of native chickens in Saraburi Province, Thailand

Examination of 200 adult native chickens (aged 1-3 years,47 males and 153 females) from 20 districts and 9 ampure of Saraburi province during March/May 1989 revealed incidence of the following ectoparasites : Menopon gallinae 97.5 %, Lipeurus caponis 31.5 %, Goniodes dissimilis 26.5 % Goniocotes gallinae 2.5 %, Echidnophaga gallinacea 26.0 %, Haemaphysalis spp.(1.0 %), Ornithonyssus bursa 27.5 % and Pterolichus spp. 7.5 %. In addition, incidence of these ectoparasites in each ampur of Saraburi province was also reported.
