Weed control in certain fruit crops has been done at the fruit crops research plantation, Dept. of Horticulture, Kasetsart University, Khampaengsaen Campus, during March to November 1983. The soil was Khampaengsaen Series with pH of 6.0-7.0 and 6.0-8.0 at the top and sub soil respectively. Herbicides were applied 1 year after the crops were transplanted. It was found that all pre-emergence herbicides did not cause phytotoxicity or reduce growth of plumello, mango and plumogranate. The application of herbicides in plumello and mango in dry season, March 1983 controlled weeds in a period of 1 to 2 month after application. However when applied in the rainy season, June 1983, herbicides provided great weed control for 5 month after application. The herbicides providing high weed control efficacy in all three crops were oxyfluorfen at 0.75 kg(ai)/ha, simazine at 1.5 kg(ai)/ha, diuron at 1.5 kg(ai)/ha or the combination of oxyfluorfen and simazine. When they were applied as high as double rate, all herbicides did not cause phytotoxicity or reduced growth.
