Closed-static respirometer was used to determine oxygen consumption for routine metabolic rate of brown-spotted grouper, Epinephelus tauvina. The metabolic rate-weight relationship models of grouper was R = 0.622W0.731 and Q = 0.626W-0.270 when R was total metabolic rate in mg.O2/hr., Q was weight specific metabolic rate in mg.O2/gm.hr. and W was wet body weight in grams. Routine scope of activity was 6.058 folds of level of metatobolism at rest with metabolism in oxygen independent pattern. Estimated critical portion of limiting level and lethal level was at 3.5 and 0.4 mg.O2/l. respectively and median tolerance level at 1.95 mg.O2/L. Condition of the study was 27.9 +- 0.2 deg.celsius, pH 7.5 - 8.2 and 30 - 33 ppt. salinity.
