1985

Study was to compare some of quantitative traits on two strains of Tilapia nilotica (Chitrada and Israeli Strains) and their hybrids. The experiment was separated into two parts. First, part one of an experiment observed differences on growths and survivals of these two strains and their hybrids, and then, offsprings of the two purebred strains from the part one were used to compare growths and survivals in part two of an experiment. The part one of the experiment stared on May 8, 1983 and ended on March 26, 1984. The part two experiment started in June 1984 and will end in April 1985. The results of part one experiment showed that the Nilotica Chitrada strain has the highest growth followed by the Israeli strain and their hybrids. The final mean weights of the pure Nilotica Chitrada, the pure Nilotica Israel, the crossbreed Chitrada X Israel and the crossbreed Israel X Chitrada were 152, 120, 111 and 38 grams respectively. In addition, the survival rate of the pure Chitrada, the pure Israel, the Chithada X Israel and the Israel X Chitrada were 83, 91, 90 and 63 % respectively.
