Yield trial of double crosses from inbred lines extracted from Thai super sweet DMR
1987
Nitima Watanayothin
This yield trial was conducted at Thailand National Corn and Sorghum Research Center. The 90-double cross hybrids of Supersweet corn were grown for trial in 1986E. Those hybrids were made from several inbred lines that had been extracted from Supersweet corn DMR. The 32 of 90-hybrids data were randomly selected for predicting yield and palatabilities by utilizing the collected data of 53 single cross hybrid in 1983L to evaluate by Jenkin's method (b) 1934. The results showed the highest yield of (52x6)x(62x114) hybrid was over Thae Supersweet corn Comp. 1 DMR and Sweet Agro 62 and 63 percent respectively. Palatability of sweetness of those double cross hybrids were variable between 15.3 deg. and 19.5 deg.Brix respectively. The use of single cross data of 1983E for predicting double cross hybrid which were tested in the 1986L caused no correlation between predicted and observed yield data. However sweetness data had significant correlation between predicted and observed data.
