A simple plant water stress criteria for irrigation schedule [soybean crop]

In the present experimental work carried out on the Station of Experimental Agronomy Institute of Bari (ISA - Rutigliano, Italy), the sensitiveness of a manual recording plant water stress indicator (leaf water potential) in relation to a soil water status indicator (soil moisture content), is compared and tested. The aim was to suggest a valid and simple criterion which could be applied to irrigation schedule on farm level. Leaf water potential appeared to be sensitive to the variations of soil moisture content and very easly to be determined.
