[Introduction of the domestic mammal breeds in the northern Gaul following the Roman Conquest]
1994
Yernaux, G. (Liege Univ. (Belgium). Unite de Recherche Evolution des Vertebres et Evolution Humaine) | Udrescu, M.
At the end of the Gallic period, the introduction of Roman domestic breeds was still very rare. But, after the Roman conquest, more "powerful" breeds became more generalized and frequent. In such sites as the Gallo-roman vicus of Braives and some other places in Belgium and Luxembourg, native and Roman breeds are recorded simultaneuosly. Osteological comparison suggests to what extent (estimated in percentage) Roman herds were introduced in ancient Gaul and how they influenced the local breeds.
