Artemisinin, a sesquiterpene lactone endoperoxid isolated from the leaves of the annual herb Artemisia annua, reveals high antimalarial activity. That is why we initiated five years ago agricultural and genetic studies with this species. Concerning the selection of high yielding strains of Artemisia annua, the species offers a large variability in its artemisinin content
