Growth dynamics of Norway spruce in a forest culture under the influence of some chemical mutagens

The experiments carried out in our republic and elsewhere show that under the influence of low doses of some chemical mutagens an essential stimulating effect on the growth of conifers' seedlings cultivated from the treated seeds can be observed. The purpose of the present paper was to study the further growth of such plants under the conditions of a forest culture, by example of Norway spruce. The culture was established with 2-year old spruce plants, which at the age of 1 year had been replanted into the so-called Nisula rolls filled sphagnum peat substratum and which for a year had been cultivated there under the conditions of a plastic greenhouse. The growth of plants in the forest culture was evaluated at the age of 6,7 and 8 years. It turned out that the mutagenic stimulation in the growth of Norway spruce can be even noticeable at the age of 7...8 years
