On helminth invasion of horses in the Ihaste riding centre and in the corporation "Lennu"

Horses in Estonia have frequently nematode parasites, especially strongylid nematodes invasion. 78 of the horses examined were invaded. On the ground of ovoscopical investigations we have diagnosed 4 species of helminths: Parascaris equorum (invasion extent 8), Strongyloides westeri (IE = 8), Oxyuris equi (IE 2), Trichostrongylus axei and other representatives of strongylid nematodes (IE = 100). The horses of corporation "Lennu" are invaded with strongylid nematodes much more than the horses of Ihaste Riding Centre due to insufficient veterinary service and keeping conditions. Further investigations in area of helminthofauna of horses in Estonia are necessary.
