In the present work the toxic effect of several wild plants occurring in Estonia on the pests Trialeurodes vaporariorum and Meligethes aeneus F. was studied. The agents were extracted in 80 per cent ethanol, evaporated in a vacuum thermostat; the residue was used for preparing a 4 per cent water solution. In the initial experiment the dipping method was used in which leaves inhabited by Trialeurodes vaporariorum were dipped for seconds in the solution studied. At the next stage single plants were sprayed in a phytotron and in small greenhouses; at the last stage spraying was carried out in field tests in which 20 per cent water solution of Tanacetum vulgare was applied for the control of Meligethes aeneus F. On the third day after treatment the plants were checked for phytotoxicity; after one week the morality of larvae was determined using binoculars. The relatively strong toxic properties of the plant extracts studied give evidence about prospects of their application in pest control
