Characterization and Preliminary Evaluation of Ethiopian Tetraploid Wheat Germplasm

The study on Ethiopian wheat species is reviewed since the earliest description made in 1885 by Koernike and Warner until the present time. In this study, 3300 accessions from PGRC/E collections were used for the general investigation on Ethiopian wheat species and of these 368 randomly selected tetraploid wheat samples were evaluated for 15 characters. The results are compared with those of wheat of other origin and characteristics specific to each species are pointed out.
