Important virus diseases of the grapevine in Hungary

For the 30 years since having detected GFV causing grapevine fanleaf in Hungary, 15 virus diseases of the grapevine have been observed in this country. Among them, grapevine leafroll and rugose wood complex are most dangerous, the latter killing the vine within 8-10 years. Closteroviruses play a role as agents causing both of them. The testing of the complex of these viruses is still going on. At present, 3 indicator varieties are being used for this purpose
