Photosynthesis of vines infected by viruses
1995
Botos-Balo, B. | Papp, E. (Szoleszeti es Boraszati Kut. Int., Kecskemet (Hungary))
During the summer of 1994, physiological tests of the grapevine fanleaf virus (GFLV) were performed on Chardonnay vines both exhibiting and not exhibiting the symptoms of yellow mosaic virus (YMV) infection. The net photosynthesis of the leaves infected by GFLV was different depending on the intensity of the symptoms. As compared with the green control leaves, the net photosynthesis of the green leaves infected by both GFLV and YMV slightly decreased, while that of the totally yellow leaves significantly dropped. The functioning of the photosynthetic electron transport chain got damaged when the symptoms became more intense
