The transformations of phosphate in gypsiferous soils of Iraq

This study was conducted to determine the phosphate precipitation dissolution kinetics and solubility of calcium phosphates in gypsiferous soils of Iraq. The results showed a sharp decrease in the concentration of water soluble P within 24h after P addition. There was a gradual decrease in soluble calcium and sulfate concentration with increasing levels of P addition especially at early intervals of incubation. Soluble Ca2+ in soil solution was more important in controlling phosphate solubilities in gypsiferous soil when potassium or the phosphate was added
