The production volume of watermelons is decreasing because of the advanced age of the producers for one thing. Its consumption is also decreasing and the current consumption is less than one third of that in around 1975 when the consumption reached the peak. In the watermelon producing areas, production through the use of facilities such as tunnels, single-span greenhouses or multi-span greenhouses with heating system, etc. are being promoted, thus gradually limiting the producing areas. In the marketplace there is a tendency that watermelons from a relatively small number of specific producing areas are sold only in specific periods of the year. This thesis is to statistically clarify the structure of watermelon transaction, analyze factors to determine the price, and quantitatively grasp the characteristics of watermelon distribution, through the investigation into the market distribution and production trend in the producing areas
