The author describes the new varieties developed by the plant breeders of the Latvia State Research Institute of Agriculture Agra and the affiliated Plant Breeding Stations during the period of 1989-1992. The varieties include those of winter wheat, malting barley, fodder barley, oats, peas, potatoes, clover. The varieties have been tested according to the present regulations and have been grown on private farms. Their high yielding capacity, good resistance to pests and diseases, their suitability to local conditions and high quality parameters are stressed.
