Mean content of heavy metals in agricultural crops in Latvia has been determined by the analysis of different crop samples (cereals, legumes, fruits,berries, vegetables) collected from all the regions of Latvia in the period of 1984-1993. The content of all the elements in different crops is shown in the table. It is pointed out that all polluted samples were taken in the vicinity of towns. The investigation shows that it is necessary to test the grain in order to determine the content of lead and cadmium
