Capacity of nitrogen production of alfalfa and clover
1994
Celma, I.
The significance of papilionaceous plants in producing nitrogen and regulating its amounts has been investigated in connection with the solution of ecological problems in Latvia. To solve the problem of nitrogen production control four cycles of trials were carried out with different types of soil (1970-1993) at the Stende Research and Experiment Station. The results of the trials proved that perennial papilionaceous plants, especially red clover increase crop yields, stabilize protein content in feeds and improve soil productivity.
