Air dried plants of Peperomia pellucida subjected to a differential extraction procedure using three solvents, namely: methanol-water (14:1), ethylacetate and hexane yielded good antibacterial extract in ethylacetate. A major fraction of the ethylacetate extract was demonstrated to possess significant antibacterial activity more potent than the penicillin standard against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which suggests its potential as a broad spectrum antibiotic
