Effect of flooding duration on the performance of pretilacor + fenclorim in wet-seeded and transplanted rice

In wet-seeded rice, flooding for any length of time from 6 days after seeding (DAS) did not reduce weed growth compared with continuous saturation. In transplanted rice, flooding for 30 days from 2 days after transplanting (DAT) was as effective as flooding until harvest. Flooding duration did not affect yield of wet-seeded rice. In transplanted rice, yields of plots flooded for 20 days from DAT did not significantly differ from those of plots flooded until harvest. Flooding duration had no effect on pretilachlor performance at application rate of 0.15-0.30 kg a.i./ha. The herbicide rate could be reduced to 50 percent of that recommended without loss in efficacy across all flooding regimes. In transplanted rice, flooding is needed for only 30 DAT to suppress weed growth thus decreasing water usage. In wet-seeded rice, earlier flooding time should be investigated to determine their effect on weed suppression
