Influence of irradiation on results of storage of onions (Allium cepa L.) in different conditions
1994
Gajewski, M. (Szkola Glowna Gospodarstwa Wiejskiego, Warszawa (Poland))
It was found high efficiency of irradiation on the lowering storage losses caused by sprouting and rooting of onion. The best results were achieved when dose 60 Gy was used. Percentage of marketable onion reached nearly 90 percent of initial mass after 8 months storage compared with 38 percent in nonirradiated control. Irradiation did not change level of vitamin C, dry matter, and sugar contents in treated onions
