Prevalence of parvoviral antibodies in fox breeding farms

A total of 392 blood samples of blue foxes and 12 sera of silver foxes were collected from 17 breeding farms where foetus mumifications, abortions, neonatal deaths and in consequence reduced litter size were observed. Dog and cat parvoviruses (CPV and FPV) were used as antigens in haemaglutination tests (HI). In 14 of 17 tested fox farms the prevalence of HI antibodies in titres ranging between 10 to 5120 were noted in sera examined with both viruses
