Effect of irrigation and paclobutrazol on the growth, flowering and fruiting of peach
1994
Szewczuk, A. (Academy of Agriculture, Wroclaw (Poland))
Irrigation affected the character and dynamic of elongative growth and improved the fruit quality of Jerseyland peach. Paclobutrazol depressed growth vigour, increased nitrogen and saccharides levels in shoot wood and increased fruit yield by 12-20 percent. The retardant in combination with irrigation depressed elongative growth more than without it, mainly in nonfruiting years. In the first fruiting year trees irrigated and treated with paclobutrazol yielded less than those non-irrigated because of a distinct growth retardation
