Contributions to establishing the seeding time for the lucerne and cocks foot seeds mixture in Burnas plain

During 1979 - 1988, on the cambic chernozem at the Agricultural Research Station Teleorman under irrigation lucerne and cock's foot seeds mixtures were experimented, seeded at various times during the interval August 1st - September 10th. Under the Burnas Plain conditions the lucerne and cock's seeds mixture gives the highest yields when seeding is performed at the end of summer, August 10th-15th, while from seeding till winter beginning temperatures of 1000-1200 degree C are accumulated. The optimum seeding ratio between the components of the mixture is 80 percent lucerne (18 kg/ha) and 20 percent cock's foot (6 kg/ha); the following lucerne cultivars Gloria, Triumf, Adonis or Selena and cock's foot cultivars: Olimp or Goliat are recommended for the mixture. When water is optimally supplied the introduction into the mixture of 2 kg/ha perenial ryegrass should be added for ensuring an efficient yield increase and a better control of the weeds.
