A proposal for extension of pig selection scheme

The need for completion of the current selection of pigs is showed on the basis of data for losses in pig production and differences in growth and meatiness between offsprings of different fathers. Any measures of meat quality are currently included in the estimations of breeding values in boars. It is suggested to test animals for malignant hypertermia with gene test and to complete the estimations of breeding values of boars with measurements of growth, meatiness and meat quality of fattners on slaughter line.
