The development in selection of pigs in Slovenia between 1960 and 1992 is presented. The results of more important researches (hereditary defects, influence of translocation on fertility, heterosis in successive parities, fertility of sows of crossbreed line 12, frequency of hyperprolific sows, morphological changes of fat cells, genetic improvement, changes in carcass quality of pigs) present the development of research work in selection of pigs.
