Demand and market equilibrium in food industry
1994
Grznar, M. (Ekonomicka Univ., Bratislava (Slovak Republic))
The identification of variables of demand function for foodstuffs and agricultural raw materials affecting the agricultural development is presented. Economic reform in Slovakia's agro-industrial sector is aimed at providing conditions for the functioning market economy and the growth of productivity in farming sector. There is still a lack of data for analyses of demand. The analysis of food market and variables of demand in developed countries serve as a basis for identification of factors of Slovakia's food demand. Substantial factors of demand are purchasing power of Slovak food consumers and ongoing changes in all sectors of economy which often result in the income imparity of agro-industrial sector, when compared to other sectors in Slovakia's economy.
