Effect of paclobutrazol on vegetative growth of lychee cv. Galoke Baiyao

Paclobutrazol was applied as foliar spray to lychee cv. Galoke Baiyao at local orchard in Klongjinda Amphoe Sampran Nakhon Pathom Province. Paclobutrazol at concentration of 1,000 ppm 1 time, 2,000 ppm 1 time, 1,000 ppm 2 times and 2,000 ppm 2 times were applied as foliar spray. The first foliar spray was on October 15, 1987 and the second was on November 10, 1987. Foliar spray had no significant effect on number of new shoots per shoot, fresh weight per shoot length, number of compound leaves per shoot, width and length of leaf. However paclobutrazol at the rates of 1,000 ppm 1 time, 2,000 ppm 1 time and 1,000 ppm 2 times could reduce the length of new shoots 26.21-31.55 % and paclobutrazol at the rate of 2,000 ppm 2 times reduced the length of new shoots 62.29 %.
