Wildlife in Doi Suthep-Pui national park [Thailand] (Kog-ma Watershed Research Bulletin Number 48)

Wildlife indigenous to Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, Chiang Mai Province, is intensively studied for species diversity and ecology by the Staff of the Ecological Research Department, Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research, by means of the literature review and actual surveys irregularly conducted in the Park. It reveals that species of wild animals, both ever existed and still existing, are known to occur in Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, of which there are 50 mammals, 361 birds 28 amphibians and 50 reptiles. Birds comprise the majority of about three-fourths (73.97 %) of the total existing wildlife. Ecological factors such as forest type, altitude, food and shelter, etc., are discussed for each particular animal group. The known 16 species of endangered wildlife, together with those 10 species with Doi Suthep as a type locality, are also reported.
