Survey of postharvest diseases

Diseases of potential highland crops were surveyed. Fruits and vegetables are infected and damaged during and after harvest. Diseased specimens were collected and laboratory studies were made for identification of the causal organisms. Diseases observed are as follows; Fruit rots of persimmon caused by Mucor sp.; Fruit rots of peach caused by Rhizopus stolonifer: Anthracnose of pear caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides; Soft rot of strawberry caused by Rhizopus stolonifer; Leaf spot of head lettuce caused by Cercospora sp.; Soft rot of head lettuce caused by Erwinia carotovora.
