Karyotype on two species of anabantid fishes, Trichogaster leeri and Colisa laria

Purpose of this experiment was to study the karyotype of Trichogaster leeri and Colisa laria, 35 to 45 mm. and 55 to 65 mm. in standard length. Experiment were as follows: 1) The diploid Chromosome number of T. leeri is 46. The karyotype comprises 23 pairs of acrocentric chromosome. The arm number is 46. 2) The diploid Chromosome number of C. laria is 48. The karyotype comprises 14 pairs of metacentric, 4 pairs of submetacentric, 1 pair of subtelocentric and 5 pairs of acrocentric Chromosomes. The arm number is 84.
