[Effect of self pollination on pollen fertility in alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.)]
1994
Katic, S. | Lukic, D. (Poljoprivredni fakultet, Novi Sad (Yugoslavia). Institut za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo)
The S0, S1 and S2 generations of alfalfa varieties were studied for pollen fertility. Self-pollination decreases pollen fertility and the number of fertile pollen grains. All studied varieties and all self-pollinated generations did not show decreased pollen fertility. Statistically significant correlation exists between pollen fertility and the number of fertile pollen grains, and both parameters can be used for the evaluation of pollen fertility.
