Influence of moisture and way of drying on the occurrence of deformations while bending beech elements

In the article was shown and analyzed the moisture change and the occurrence of some deformations in the course of hydrothermic preparation, bending and VF drying of beech elements in mass production. It was shown that the moisture content in wood after 20-minute steaming was increased for cca 8, being very close to the saturation point of xylem elements, and that after bending, for only 10-minute drying in VF presses, the moisture content became reduced to the value of 10. At the same time there appears a series of deformations and only 40 of the total number of elements is in order. About 30 of the total number makes the direct (irreparable) rejects.
