[Variation of dairy and reproductive characteristics of cows depending on the system of housing]

The effect of the system of housing was investigated. 703 cows of Holstein-Friesian breed were studied. 343 of them were in the tied up system and 360 in the loose system of housing. It was found out that, at the average, the duration of the first lactation was longer for 23 days in cows of tied up system of housing, but the difference was not significant. The milk production in the total first lactation was higher in cows of tied up system of housing (P 0.001) than in cows of loosed system of housing. The quantity of milk fat was higher in tied up cows (P 0.05). The content of milk fat () was higher in loosed cows (P 0.001).
