Production capacities of Vojvodina [Yugoslavia] soils under maize

In 1991, soil was sampled from the fields under maize from private and state farms in Vojvodina (Yugoslavia). The samples were taken from the layers up to 30 cm. The samples were analyzed for chemical characteristics of soil, content of essential elements and heavy metals. Results of obtained show that soils of Vojvodina (Yugoslavia) are medium to well provided by humus, have high fertility, while the content of heavy metals is lower than legally permitted limits for dangerous and harmful matters in agricultural soils. It can be concluded that the soils of Vojvodina are suitable for successful production of maize.
