The influence of various mineral and organic fertilizers, as well as their combinations on the number of Azotobacter chroococcum and Clostridium pasterianum in the soil under maize monoculture, was studied. Mineral fertilizers affected negatively the numerosity of azotobacter and clostridium. Manure application did not induce any significant number increase, while ploughing in of cornstalks exerted a significant influence. Combinations of mineral and organic fertilizers induced the decrease of clostridium number.
