Contemporary popcorn hybrids should satisfy demands of both producers and consumers. This means that popcorn hybrids should have a high yielding potential, stable plant, and at the same time high popping valume, tender and tasty flake. Popcorn is used for human consumption directly as flakes or as raw material in the processing industry. The objective of sweet corn breeding is to develop high yielding hybrids with tender and succulent kernels. Sweet corn is used for human consumption as a fresh, and canned or frozen out of season. In the Maize Institute "Zemun Polje" - Beograd (Serbia, Yugoslavia) more than 20 years were selected ZP popcorn and sweetcorn hybrids
