Chauhan, A. | Singh, A.K. | Karim, M.R.
The rural population predominantly consists of small farmers in Uttar Pradesh of India. The potential of integrated income and employment in these farms is quite limited. It is important to know that an increase in goat activity in an integrated system could increase the total productivity of a farm through more efficient use of labour and available resource to generate more income and employment. Besides employment and income, it also provides the protein rich food to the millions of people in the country. In the study, it was found that employment of family workers through goat enterprise was much higher as compared to crop enterprise. Government should take adequate measures for upgrading breeds by providing financial support through commercial banks and technical support through research institutes to poor goat rearers.
