Clonal multiplication of Leucaena leucocephala by in vitro culture [in Bangladesh]

Different explants namely, cotyledonary node, stem node and shoot apex of Leucaena leucocephala were successfully cultured on MS medium supplemented with different combinations and concentrations of BAP, IBA, IAA and GA3. The presence of GA3 in combinations with other hormones did not allow good differentiation of single/multiple shoot in most of the cases. However, the media supplemented with 2.5 mg/l BAP + 0.1 mg/l IBA + 0.1 mg/l GA3 produced maximum number of shoots. 0.5 mg/l IBA supplemented medium proved best for root formation. 40% plantlets were successfully transferred into soil.
