When dealing with future windthrow areas, on which natural hazards are likely to develop, the question arises as to the treatment of such areas, i.e. whether the whole area or only part of it should be cleared or whether it should simply be left as it is. Depending on the nature and extent of the damage and on the protective properties of damaged forests, no or minimum treatment is necessary
