[Oulema melanopus: infestation and resistance of winter wheat [Switzerland]]
1996

The populations of the cereal leaf beetle, Oulema melanopus L., in winter wheat increased over the last ten years. A survey carried out in 1992 and 1993 has shown that larval attacks are above the economic injury level on approximately one third of the winter wheat fields. Fungal diseases increased by 35 % on average on leaves which had previously been attacked by larvae of the beetle. Differences of larval attack between cultivars depend to a great extent on leaf pubescence. Damage decreases with increasing density and length of trichomes (r2 = 0.78)
