The yield capacity of field grass on podzoluvisols
1994
Kaerner, M. (Estonian Agricultural University, Tartu (Estonia). Department of Grassland Husbandry and Botany.)
The yield capacity and quality of field grass on Podzoluvisols was studied through a field trial in 1989...1990. The field grass sward was established (sown) in spring 1988 under the early spring barley. The subjects of study were the effects of P79, K199, Mg20, Cu3,5, Zn3, Mn12, B1, Co1 and N100 on the amounts of the yields and on the their crude protein content of field grass. In the first year of utilization the content of red clover in the green matter yield was high - 53.7...84.6 per cent but the whole yield of field grass was low -accounting for an average of 16.5...21.2 Mg/ha of green matter and for 1056 kg/ha of crude protein, as the precipitation in the summer was low. In the second year of utilization, amount of precipitation was higher and therefore the yields of field grass were higher - an average 43.2...60.7 MG/ha of green matter 1798...3036 kg/ha of crude protein. The yields of field grass were increased on average under the influence of fertilization on the background of PK by 10.6...19.1 Mg/ha green matter and by 590...1348 kg/ha crude protein and on the background of NPK by 4.4...14.3 Mg/ha and 451...1677 kg/ha, respectively
