The oats variety 'Jaak' has been developed by crossing 'Flaemingsnova' x 6.1.S ('Fraser' x ('Vigor' x 'Seisukindel') at the Jogeva Plant Breeding Institute. The new variety is included into the Estonian List of Varieties from 1995. 'Jaak' is a medium late variety with high yielding capacity, big seed and high protein and fat content. It is resistant to root nematode and loose smut, medium resistant to crown rust and medium susceptible to stem rust. Due to the high 1000 kernel weight, good resistance to diseases and shorter growing period, 'Jaak' is a well suitable variety for food, but also for feed
