The change in the grain-yield depending on the plant number could be in general reliably described by second order function. The experimental data - corresponding to the research results of Dunancan (1958) - proved a very close linear correlation between the logarithm of the individual grain yield production and the plant number. With full knowledge of the correlation, the extent of density tolerance of each hybrid can be compared and the optimal plant number can be given in advance more precisely. The rate of thousand-kernel-mass and of the lodged plants changed also according to linear function, while the proportion in fertile plants showed an exponential change as affected by density
