In the Sopron Mountain (West of Hungary), the volumes of incident precipitation, throughfall and stemflow were weekly measured in three forest ecosystems important for domestic forestry, especially in old beech, sessile oak and spruce stands during the period of 1 November, 1988 - 31 October, 1992. The role of forest ecosystems in the hydrological processes was estimated by assessing their effect on the distribution of precipitation
