[Deficiency of iodine in livestock feed]

The necessity of microelements, particularly iodine, in livestock feed for the development of healthy young animals is explained. Iodine content in meadow grasses and cereals depending on climatic conditions and the phase of vegetation is discussed. Iodine content in different kinds of feed is shown in mg/kg. Iodine deficiency as the cause of endemic diseases and some pathologies is considered. The required amount of iodine per day for different farm animals is shown, and the results of its deficiency are described.
