[The influence of water salinity irrigation on soil properties]
1994
Ursu, A. | Raiku, A. (Institute of Geography, Kishinev (Republic of Moldova))
The results of the use of low salinity alkaline water for irrigation are presented. The use of such water leads to the increase of exchangeable sodium content in the upper horizon, and soil solonization takes place. When the soil is not ploughed up during several years both the crust and alkalinized horizon are formed. In the middle of soil profile the accumulation of easy solubilized salts occurs. The intensity of solonization and resalinization depends on water composition, annual quota and duration of irrigation.
